The Alpha and Omega

En Gedi 06 - Nov 2007

En Gedi, the refreshing spring written about in the Psalms

And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

Revelation 21:6-7

I love details. I thrive on the intricate workings that often pass unnoticed. When it involves worshiping the One True God and living according to His will, my enjoyment in learning these things is transformed into a passion. It becomes a blazing fire in my heart. Journeying down this Torah-seeking path, I desire to share our love for the unity and validity of the Word, down to the tiniest details. I long for others to test the current interpretations of the teachings of Yeshua and the apostles against the Scripture. It is the passion of my heart for the world to understand and receive the true process of transformation from the Spirit.

Sometimes it’s easy, especially for me, to become so focused on details at the expense of remembering the big picture. I understand in my heart and mind what it is but I fail to fully express that. I focus on the aspects of our journey that may look different to others, the points that I feel need to be explained. But, I wanted to just pause. I feel the need to slow down and establish something.

We were created, redeemed, transformed {and will continue to be until the end} to walk in obedience because we are set apart for YHWH to walk in relationship with him. When we focus on a certain aspect, like our salvation by grace or our commanded obedience to Torah, we really lose that focus. We spend so much energy defending positions and less time worshiping in Spirit and truth.

I wholeheartedly believe that the Word of God is unified and fully applicable to all followers of God. I absolutely believe that Yeshua, the Messiah, paid in full the debt we have and will accrue because of our lawlessness, and it is by his grace that we are covered by his blood. I am so aware of the work that the Spirit is doing in my heart, and thankfully he is not finished, enabling me to have power to understand the will of YHWH and to do any good work.

But, the big picture is that I love YHWH! Feebly, I will be the first to admit, but even in my brokenness I love him. I don’t want there to be any doubt amidst the details, that my ultimate passion, the true desire of my heart, is to worship YHWH! I long to draw close to him. I strive to grow in knowledge and true understanding of him. I tremble to enter his presence and rejoice in his holiness. This fire in my heart burns so that I can’t bare to hold inside the truth that YHWH is good and holy. I want to praise him for that. I want the whole earth to rejoice in that!

This is why you’ll notice we have changed the tagline on our site to: Redeemed by Yeshua, Being Transformed by the Spirit, Devoted to YHWH. It used to read: Torah-loving, Yeshua-following, Spirit-empowered. These things are all true…things about which I am most passionate. But it doesn’t grasp the bigger picture.

We are set apart for and devoted to YHWH, who was and is and is to come. Every breath, every word, every act of obedience should lead back to him. In the end every knee shall bow to his authority. That is why we live the way we do. That is why I am drawn to all the details. I want to submit now to his authority, to obey his Word, to be moved by his Spirit, living confidently through his grace.

YHWH is the big picture. He is the ultimate goal. YHWH is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the ones who conquer, YHWH will be our God and we will be his children.

Make a joyful noise to YHWH, all the earth!
   Serve YHWH with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!

Know that YHWH, he is God!
    It is he who made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For YHWH is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 100
